INCI: Allantoin

What is it?

Allantoin is a compound naturally found in the comfrey plant, though most cosmetic-grade allantoin is made synthetically from urea and glyoxylic acid to meet demand. It's typically used in formulations to soothe irritated skin and support healing.

How is it used?

Dissolve it into the water phase of a formula. It doesn't require heat, though gentle warming can help it dissolve faster.
