Evening Primrose Oil

INCI: Oenothera Biennis Oil

What is it?

Evening primrose oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the evening primrose plant. It's mostly linoleic acid (65-75%), with a smaller but notable amount of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) at 9-11%. It's typically used in formulations targeting barrier support and sensitive or mature skin.

How is it used?

Use in the oil phase of a formula, ideally paired with an antioxidant since its polyunsaturated content is prone to oxidation.
