surfactant
Foaming Apple
INCI: Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids
What is it?
This is a mild surfactant made by attaching a coconut-derived fatty acid onto amino acids extracted from apples, through a reaction called acylation. That fatty-acid tail plus amino-acid head structure, joined by an amide bond rather than the sulfate or sulfonate link found in harsher surfactants, is generally why t...
How is it used?
Add it to the water phase, it's supplied pre-dissolved. Amino-acid surfactants generally foam and perform best near neutral pH, so adjust your formula's pH accordingly rather than assuming it behaves like a sulfate across a wide pH range.
