Seatons Rice Bran Wax

INCI: Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax

What is it?

Rice bran wax is recovered as a byproduct when rice bran oil is refined, since crude rice bran oil naturally contains a small amount of wax. Unlike a fatty oil or butter, it's a true wax: a mix of long-chain esters, meaning a fatty acid and a fatty alcohol joined together, similar in structure to carnauba and candel...

How is it used?

Fully melt it into the oil phase, generally above about 80 to 85°C, then move it off direct heat and keep it warm in a water bath while you add any heat-sensitive ingredients around 55°C. Pour promptly and stir continuously as it cools to avoid a grainy finish.
