Seatons Virgin Linseed Oil

INCI: Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil

What is it?

Linseed oil, also called flaxseed oil, is cold-pressed from flax seeds and stands out for an unusually high share of alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fat with three double bonds, making up over half its total fat content. That heavily unsaturated structure is what makes it a 'drying oil': exposed to air, it doesn't...

How is it used?

Add it to the oil phase, and pair it with an antioxidant like mixed tocopherols or rosemary extract, since it needs more active protection against oxidation than most carrier oils. In cold-process soap, keep it to a small share of your total oils and keep any superfat from it low.
