Shea Butter WS
INCI: PEG-50 Shea Butter
What is it?
PEG-50 Shea Butter is regular shea butter that's been chemically modified: its natural hydroxyl groups are reacted with about 50 units of ethylene oxide, a process called ethoxylation. That grafts water-loving polyethylene glycol chains onto shea butter's fatty backbone, and the result is a genuinely different mater...
How is it used?
Add it to the water phase; no heating is required. This is the opposite of how you'd handle plain shea butter, which needs melting and goes into the oil phase.
