surfactant

Sodium Cocoamphoacetate

INCI: Sodium Cocoamphoacetate

What is it?

Sodium cocoamphoacetate is made by reacting coconut fatty acid with a nitrogen-containing compound to form an intermediate, which is then reacted further with sodium hydroxide and a chlorinated acid to produce the final amphoteric surfactant. It's typically used in formulations as a very mild secondary surfactant.

How is it used?
